Anirudh Ravichander who is popularly known as Anirudh is an Indian Musician whose work are mainly in Kollywood Industry.
He was born in a family which were already prominent in Tamil Film Industry, his father Ravi Ragavendra was an actor, his maternal grandfather and great grandfather were filmmakers and made commercial kind of documentaries. Also, Anirudh is a nephew of Rajinikanth.
Right from his school life, his passion and interest were in music. That journey continued in his college life, also making him to be part of many Bands, learning piano and completing sound engineering diploma courses. He completed his degree at Loyola College Chennai.
Anirudh Career in Movie industry started in his cousin movie “3” which was directed by Aishwarya which starred Dhanush. Interestingly his career began with a leaked version of his song “Why This Kolaveri” which later on became a worldwide hit. It created many You-tube and streaming records when it was officially released. Also, the album had received much appreciation especially for the Back ground score.
His next movie was “David” which had multiple musicians and the portion which Anirudh composed became a hit again and he was appreciated for his work. He next collaborated with his friend, Sivakarthikeyan for “Ethir Neechal” which once again received appreciation critically and commercially.
Anirudh next was with Dhanush again for the movie “Velayilla Pattathari” which became a sensational hit and the song album was considered to be the back bone of movie success.
Anirudh later on worked with many stars of Kollywood like Rajinikanth, Ajith Kumar, Vijay, Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi etc., The years 2013 and 2014 Anirudh had worked on 8 movies and all the 8 albums became chart busters by creating new records in audio streaming platforms.
Into Music Life:
From 2012 to 2017, Anirudh collaborated with his friend Sivakarthikeyan for 5 movies and with Dhanush for 4 movies. Thus, this combo got a new name DnA which stands for Dhanush and Anirudh.
In the year 2018, Anirudh began his musical journey in Tollywood industry also for the movie “Agnyaathavaasi” starring Pawan Kalyan, thought the movie was average, songs received good response from Telugu speaking state. In 2019, he got a chance to work with Rajinikanth for “Petta” and had 2 Tollywood movies out of which “Jersey” movie got phenomenal response from audience and critics.
He then collaborated with Vijay for the 2nd time after Kaththi, and this time he made a new sensational record for “Master” movie song “Vaathi Coming” which was reused in many Instagram reels and you-tube shorts. Many other state celebrities and Cricketers favorite was this song at the time of release.
Within 10 years he was able to achieve 25 movies and his 25th movie was with Vijay Sethupathi starring Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which was his 3rd collaboration with director Vignesh Shivn who is also his best friend.
As of now Anirudh has around 5 movies in his line up till 2023, and in 2022 itself he had 7 movie releases. He is simultaneously working in Kollywood, Tollywood and Bollywood movie for Shah Rukh Khan “Jawan”
Along with being a movie composer, he has also worked on many individual albums.
Achievements:
Starting from 2014 to 2018 he released a single album on Valentine’s Day which was rocking among youngsters and along with that he also contributed in some commercial advertisements.
As a music director he completed 27 movies till 2022 and as a singer he has sung around 130+ songs out of which he has sung for other famous music directors like AR Rahman, Santhosh Narayanan, Imman, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Sam CS, Keeravani etc.,
Anirudh has received many states cine and international cine awards for his fantastic work in many movies & he received Film Fare award as a singer for “Vikram Vedha” movie, Yaanji song in the year 2017.
